Allen Centennial Gardens
A hidden gem, Allen Centennial Gardens is a 2.5-acre horticultural teaching garden and public botanic garden managed by the University of Wisconsin Department of Horticulture. See state-of-the-art displays and learn about the use of traditional and novel horticultural plants in a variety of landscape settings. Allen Centennial Gardens features:
- Constantly evolving gardens reflect the most recent innovations in horticulture and landscaping
- 21 individually-themed gardens reflect landscape history and design and showcase a wide variety of plants and plant collections
- Gardens include Herb, Woodland, English, French, Italian, Rock, New American, Victorian, Kitchen, Iris, Daylily, Peony, Lily, Conifer and Native
- Special theme for 2010: "Plants with Dual Purpose"
- The Kitchen Garden will present a Victory Garden, including new “Square-Foot-Gardening” beds
Allen Centennial Gardens is conveniently located near Babcock Hall—a popular stop for ice cream—as well as the D.C. Smith Greenhouse Conservatory and the U.W. Botany Gardens, which are also open to the public.
